| Tennessee Walking Horses for Sale to Approved Buyers |
The gelding and two young mares I offer were raised on this farm. They are three of the four I own. Only an 18 year old mare, Flammable, is not for sale. My horses are not pets in the sense of being spoiled--they have to obey--but they come to visit when they see me and like to be scratched behind the ears and under the jaw. None have ever struck or kicked at a human being. I walk freely between and behind them. To the best of my knowledge they are sound and healthy and exactly as described. Heights and weights are approximate. I’ve calculated them by using a horse measuring tape.

Boss 1650

Boss 0002 |

Boss with Sheba 0001
|
BOSS, TWHBEA registered as HANDSHAKER’S BLACK POWER, was foaled 4/28/02. He’s 16 hands and 1200 pounds of old style Walking Horse. Boss has large, strong bones, arched neck, broad chest, hard hooves and powerful quarters. With all this, he has kind eyes and a good nature. Most gaited horses look light boned and weedy in his company. Boss has had two and a half months of professional training. He crosses ditches and water, and stands for clumsy, awkward mounting. He leads, loads, washes, ties and stands for shoeing. His sire was a 16-hand palomino with big yellow and cremello saddle horses like Bud England and Hank Williams, as well as World Grand Champion Mack K’s Handshaker in his background. His dam, big and black, out of the Peacock show line, was inarguably the most enduring, fast gaited, and elegant mare I’ve owned in more than 50 years of Walking Horses.
Boss was gelded after siring Mary B and Penny, but not for bad temperament. He’s notably sensible. Once when I was riding him in thick woods, turning him this way and that to protect my knees, he broke into a heavy sweat. When we were in a clearing I dismounted. His bit was under his tongue, but he had not reared or become unruly. On another occasion he didn’t show up at feeding time, didn’t come when called, and I couldn’t find him in the dark. The next morning he neighed in answer to my call. I found him standing on a downed woven-wire fence, hidden by brush. A strand of wire was wedged between one rear shoe and his hoof. Rather than panicking and pulling off part of his hoof as many horses would have, he’d stood all night waiting for rescue. I offer him for sale with regret. $2,500. |

Mary B 1667 |

Mary B 0056 |

Mary B and Flam 114 |
| MARY B, a bay mare TWHBEA registered as HOTSY. has been ridden by a professional 20 times. Her trainer says she’s ready for trail riding by a rider of average ability. She isn’t yet suitable for a beginner because, while gentle, she is not bridle wise. Mary B was foaled 4/19/04 out of Flammable and by Handshaker’s Black Power (Boss). She’s about 900 pounds and 15-1 hands, has good bone, a short back, arched neck and powerful musculature. She’s built like a female version of her sire. Her four generation pedigree shows World Grand Champions Roger’s Perfection, GLL’s Carbon Copy, Handshaker’s Delight A and Mack K’s Handshaker. She leads, stands tied, and loads in a trailer. She comes to me each time she sees me, likes to be talked to, and loves a shower in hot weather. Rather than spook at a new object in her environment, she’s likely to investigate it. $1200. |

Penny 1523 |

Penny 1548 |

Penny as Foal
113 |
| PENNY, a year younger full sister of Mary B’s, is of slimmer
conformation. She’s an inch taller and weighs about 850 pounds. Penny’s conformation is very much like Flammable’s, her dam. She was not blood typed and registered in the TWHBEA when young, and the association’s fees are punishing if one misses the cut off date. Now the cost for registering her in the TWHBEA would be prohibitive. A DNA test, full pedigree, and papers to register her in the Pleasure Walking Horse Association or the Racking Horse Association will be provided a buyer. Penny is gentle to handle, likes people, leads, and stands tied. She is usually the first to come greet when she sees me. Penny is gaited, but has not been trained for riding. She is offered as a well-bred, saddle mare prospect from which you could raise palomino, buckskin or sorrel foals. $800. |
